The Watkins Junior Golf program is committed not only to growing the game of golf for the next generation of golfers, but also to help create memories that will last a lifetime. At Watkins Junior Golf, we offer Operation 36 golf which helps students learn how to shoot par (36) from the green backwards. Each player, no matter their ability, begins at 25 yards away playing 9-hole events trying to shoot a 36 or better. Once a player shoots 36 or better from 25 yards, they progress to the 50 yard mark, then 100, 150, 200 and finally the tee boxes. This is great for any skill level because it focuses on scoring and learning how to control the golf ball around the green.
During the weekly classes, we will cover a lesson plan filled with game-based learning on chipping, putting, pitching and sand drills which will help develop the players scoring game. We offer 8-12 week sessions that include 9-hole events. Once you join the Operation 36 golf community, you will gain access to the mobile app where you can view all of the curriculum and training videos. This is great for tracking player progress and keeping up with statistics so the student knows what to work on outside of class.
The Watkins Junior Golf program is led by Thomas Watkins who is our Director of Junior Golf, a Golf Digest Top Teacher in MS, a Master Kids Coach and is a member of the U.S. Kids Golf Coaches Institute.
